We recently visited The Daintree Rainforrest and River in North Queensland, Australia and our guide spoke about Richard Daintree. We did not know that he was a British scientist and that he had infact died back in England. Our guide although very knowledgable did not know where in England, this we have found out but are left wondering where his grave is.

In my opinion, Richard Daintree is buried in Bromley, Greater London, Kent, probably in a churchyard, for the following reasons:
- I found no mention whatsoever to RD death in the Beckenham records;
- there's a death registry of an RD death in Bromley in July 1878, refring to June the same year, at the age of 46;
- Bromley and Beckenham are neighbour towns, both in the suburbs of London;
- there are 6 county cemeteries in Bromley, the oldest dating from 1881, meaning that RD could not be buried there;
- it was quite common in the 19th century england to bury people in churchyards or even inside the churches.

This is a difficult question. I checked the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography for you, as it usually has place of burial, but their entry for him does not say where.

I also checked The Times newspaper for that month, which only had a brief notice of his death and said he died at his home, Holyrood House. You may have to luck out and have a Beckenham local historian see this question to find the answer.
