I went to school with a girl who would get a spanking if she got dirty, she couldn't even get her shoes scuffed.
So I guess someone who is really clean and won't play with the other kids might "look" like their parents are strict.

If they are very moderate in their behaviour - not boisterous or outgoing. If the keep their hands to their sides and don't talk much. If they flinch when someone approaches to touch them.
