Mel Gibson is apolgizing. Does this make a difference to how you feel about him? Can a racist heart be apologized for? Does something else need to be done to learn compassion for a group of people? I think it takes more than just saying sorry hateful thoughts. What about learning compassion from actions? Working with the poor instead of starrs. How about working with people in need of a group someone is hateful of? I think that is a better way. If someone wants to grow. What would you suggest someone does to grow from something almost unforgivable? Sorry can be manupulative and meaningless. It is nicer than Tom Cruise granted, but we need more. What do you think?

Do you think he is doing it for himself or his career? It is one thing if he is doing it for people and another for personal gain.

His Heart of Darkness has been exposed.

He can apologize all he wants, but the cruelty of his words and actions will dog him forever.

I'm sure a lot of drunks are sorry for the ridiculous babbling they may have done . The fact that the drive-by media blew it up as tho Gibson was on a world racism tour- is what was disgraceful . Gibson would have blasted whatever the person happened to be -arresting him while drunk .It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that ; and yes-I'll bet he is sorry . A racist wouldn't apologize .

Let it go, he made a mistake like we all do.. He is a good person and doesn't deserve all this criticism..
Why on earth do we praise people up and then at the first sign of trouble want to rip them down..?
People all over the world get drunk and say things that offend, should we go out and make everybody repent for their sins.. not realistic..
No we don't need more from the poor man, he gives to charities and is probably one of the most down to earth movie stars that doesn't think he has a silver spoon lodged up his bum..
I love him, he will always be a great actor and person in my books..

I had a lot of respect for Mel Gibson as a person until the harsh remarks he made regarding Jews. It was a very leud, drunken, racist comment that will forever be etched in stone. I will never watch another Mel Gibson movie. He disappointed me. I thought he was much more intelligent than that.
I know that people speak their minds when they are drunk. When normally he wouldn't have told the truth about how he feels. He's entitled to his opinion, but I'm entitled to mine as well. I will not spend another dime on a Mel Gibson production of any sort.
I think Mel Gibson should find a rock to climb under for a very long time. Pray for God to forgive him, because I can't.

No, it doesn't make a difference because I still don't care about the whole darn thing. What is it, when you become a celebrity you lose your place as a human being and are now just an object that people have to know know everything you do???? My friend did the same thing and funny enough, not one bit of it hit the news.

Being racist is not against the law. It means you are narrow minded. You can't punish someone for having an opinion, that is what american's are always going on about, having free speech. It may not make him popular, but that's his problem. If being racist was against the law half the country would be in jail.

I completly agree with you. And like I don't think Gibson's apology should make a difference because his drunk *** was VERY rude. I think racism is just wrong.
Also like, he made freakin millions of dollars on Passions of the Christ. Then he goes and talks about the people who were in the movie...?Just because you are rich and famous doesn't mean you have the right to downgrade a religion, and this goes for poor and unknown people too, it goes for everyone; NOBODY should talk about somebody else's way of living/believing.

I don't know what he's apologizing for. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. The remarks he said weren't even racist, I'm Jewish, and for the life of me, I can't think of a war we weren't partially responsible for. If he wants to be racist he's perfectly entitled to be, and to answer your question, if he wants to apologise for offending people, I don't see why he shouldn't be able to. If I offended somebody I would apologize to them.

NO!!! The fact of Mel Gibson apolizing is just a cover-up for publicity and fake sympothy. Why should we forgive that racist for his stupid, crapy, rude problems he caused and said? I stick with what I say for my answer.
