d.m.v. laws were inacted because police were tired of waisting there time locking someone up only to have the vic drop charges. now the officer can press charges. but as with any law thats needed , some officers abuse that power. when neighbors and media see you get arrested they assume your guilt ( wife beater, etc.) OPEN SECRET but its not always the case. i was arrested c.d.v. and had did nothing more than walk away from an arguement! my g.f. at the time told police i had bashed in the bed room door and was affraid for her safety. unfortunatly i had a few beers in me (not drunk) so the officer would not even listen to me. he assumed i did it! when in fact SHE had did it two weeks prior. i tried to tell the officer this, but as i said, he didnt want my side. when we got to court she did not count on my defense. i had three witnesses that seen the door right after she had done it, one of which(her on daughter) seen her do it! the case was thrown out. she latter was charged with giving a false statement. i dont know what came from that cause were no longer together, but that dont take away the closed minded cop or my neighbors vision of me or my name in the paper. never assume.

It shouldn't be kept a secret.. I spoke up, got out of the relationship and took the appropriate measures to make sure it didn't happen again.
