Ok. My sister had a baby about 5 months ago. So she went back for her check-up a couple days ago. And apparently when they did her PAP test, they found a bad cell. I know it doesnt neccessarily mean cervical cancer. but Im soo worried!!! How often does is turn into that!!!

I just dont understand how this could happen!!!

I thought things were actually starting to go in the right direction for our lives. Im just scared!!! She just had a baby!!!

First of all, don't get all stressed out.

The first thing they'll do is a repeat PAP to confirm the results from the initial test.
Next, depending on the results of the second PAP, they'll perform a test called a "colposcopy" where they examine the cervix after applying a chemical that makes abnormal cells visible.
Then they'll do a biopsy.
Depending on the results of THAT test, they will then treat her accordingly; typically what is resultant is a situation where they use cryo-surgery or cauterization to remove the malignant cells, with no further treatment besides extra PAP's (like every 3-6 months for a few years).

Please be calm; cervical cancer, if caught in its initial stages is 100% treatable. I know - I've been there (Stage 1 C.C. in 1996). Its a long drawn-out process, but it IS combatable!

She's going to be fine, and she right now needs YOU to be strong for her and the baby! Be tough - you guys WILL get through this!

Calm down, it is ok. I think about 70% of the poulation has HPV (the virus that can - if it is the right strain - turn into cervical cancer). Other strains cause warts and such.

All she needs to do is get a colposcopy and if there are ickys in there, the doc can freeze those buggers right off, and no worries. Just make sure she listens to her doc, and everything will be fine.

Ok first of all your sisters responsibility is between her and obviously you care about this baby cause she's your niece what I would just contribute is never think on the negative side, this baby has a bad cell think about something what if she doesn't have cervical cancer don't kill yourself about your niece. And if she does get that kind of cancer then pray every night to hope she is ok.

i know what its like to go through cancer and to have a close family member go through it (my mom diagnosed a year after me) its not fun.

get it tested or if that is already done go for fairly regular checkups to keep track if its developing into anything, i hope its nothing but you can never be to care full but until then don't worry to much because it may not be anything to serous, make sure you find out exactly what it is from your doctor or even see others. good luck with everything

It could be other things then Cervical cancer. She could have HPV which is a sexually transmitted disease that tons of people have. It's one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases ther is. She should wait untill the OBGYN/ Gyno says what she has. HPV is very easy to treat. Don't think of the negative think of the positives. It could be nothing.

no it rarely becomes cancer, cervical cancer is the slowest growing and therefor most successfully treated anyway. if regularly tested it is dealt with before it becomes a problem
