Stop thinking of yourself. Stop being so self absorbed. There are folks close to you that could probably use your help. Do some volunteer work.

I can tell you that this has happened to me. It has taken years to get over it, and sometimes in the middle of the night when I can't sleep, I still have memories. Eventually the memories fade and months may go by when I don't even think of him. When I get depressed is when I seem to dwell on the past, and things that may have happened. Just move forward with life, and each day will get better, and some day you will find someone that loves you and you love back. But truthfully, it seems to me that the memories will never totally go away. Not much comfort I know, but the best I can offer.

If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.
