I recommend using Lotus Notes. It provides for encryption, and groups, adminstrators. It also allows online databases and redundant mail servers.

There is also the consideration of inter-company email and intra-company email. Especially if 2 companies merge. This can all be migrated under Lotus Notes.

If you meant company email being private and can't be seen by management. Companies need access to your email. Cosideer what if something happened to you and they needed your emails to close a billion dollar deal? Use something else like Yahoo for personal email, keep it seperate from your work email.
