They have no idea what the word "retarded" means. They just read it somewhere, and use any opportunity to use it. What they really mean is asinine, moronic, mentally deficient/challenged, cretinous, brainless, gormless, fatuous, half-witted, idiotic, imbecelic, stupid, thickheaded, or my favourite, somnambulistic troglodyte. Go well, and God Bless!

Very hateful and rude,I agree but sometimes it's just about being accurate, dear.
Some of the posts on this site are simply retarded and I see no problem in anyone pointing that out.

As someone who has used the term thousands of times - I have to agree. It took friends from Europe to get me to see that it is really not okay - even if my friends and I meant nothing by it. I still catch myself slipping but I try not to say it.
I would like to know what you think a good synonym is - I have yet to find a word that works so well for so many things.

I think it's retarded. Oops...I mean childish.
People who throw the term around just because they're out of intellectual ammo show their true colors, in my eyes. That color is brown, of course, as most of them are full of sh*t. I've had my answers called "retarded" already, but it made little difference to me, as I considered the source.

I agree it is very rude, these people can not help it, mentally challenged is still rude, but better than retarded.
By the way retard is to hold back.

Apparently, these people have never had a mentally challenged family member, and had to hear little children say "look at the retard". That's what they are acting like is little children. When you make them mad, they resort to name-calling.

Class seems to be in short supply around here. Just like some one showing a picture of people burning the flag and saying how cool it is. I was willing to defend that flag (and all it stands for) with my life. Just keep your chin up and ignore the ignorant.

I don't use it for a disabled person, but just saying something is stupid?? Yeah that's fine, I don't think anything wrong with it, and I think you retards are being too sensitive.

Has no place in rational or reasonable discussions. It is an elementary school insult, and more accurately depicts the name-caller as someone of lesser mental maturity than the object of that insult.
