Google the author's name. Some authors have a website with a contact feature, or their publisher may have an e-mail address you can use. Look on the cover of a book by the author; sometimes there is a website or e-mail address listed there.

Google them-- if they have an author's website, it should come up. Or just try www.authorsname.com and see if it works.
Authors love emails...I'm friends with lots of them and they always say how much they love hearing from readers.
If you cant find them, try leaving them a review on Amazon (do an actual review) with their question and then add your email onto the end to see if they'll reply.

I am an author an get emails all the time. Most people find me through my website. If an author does not want to be emailed they will not disclose their email address.

Well, it is true that unlike my other profound comments on an array of issues this one is being answered for the selfish reason of wanting my 197 points to rise to 199 points which will allow me to soar closer to that wistful level 2 status. If you want you can be one of my favorite fans. I have very few, you know.
