Lots and lots of COLD water. If you don't have a carpet steamer, get one - but don't use hot water or engage the heater. Get the carpet very wet, vacuum up until as dry as it gets, then repeat. You'll need to repeat this several times.

Then, make sure the cat isn't peeing on that same spot after you clean it....

Check out the ASPCA website (national one), they had several other hints, plus ways to keep the cat from doing it again.

It'll work. How long did you wait? It'll get worse before it gets better. Per instructions, the enzymes that draw out the smell will "stink" for up to two weeks before the smell is diffused.

If you have alot of urine, it'll take a couple of doses (a month) before the smell is gone.

Try by diluting a cup of vinegar with a cup of room-temperature water. Apply to the carpet and blot with a clean rag.

No you have to tear out the carpet, and you may need to change the floor boards. All the remedies just cover it up for a little while

use vinegar - it neutralizes the ammonia in the urine. After it's dry spray with bitter apple or citrus - cats don't like that smell

Yes,
Remove the carpet and pad. Burn carpet and pad. Replace with new carpet and pad. Don't forget to clean the subfloor before laying new carpet. Cats are fowl fowl animals.

I don't know if is foolproof but you can try first and let me know. It's licking the urined spot til the smell and stain is gone. ;)
