I wont be in to see the doctor till sept 20th.My asthma hasnt been bad really in years, but I since I got pregnant there are times when Ifeel like I need it. So I can either take it or goon and try to ignore that Im having a little trouble breathing. I mean Im not having attacks. just a little difficulty, and normally I would just take my inhaler and be fine. Now I dont know what the best thing to do is, just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Yes. I have had severe asthma my whole life. I am pregnant with my second baby.. I use a daily inhaler and albuteral as needed. My doctor suggests it and it will not harm the baby.

I was on Advair, but my asthma doctor decided to switch me to Pulmacort since I am trying to conceive. Its a "B" class drug and is safer for use during pregnancy then the Advair was. I can even breastfeed while I'm on it, as long as I time it to breastfeed 3 hours after I take it. I haven't looked into the inhaler, though, simply because I don't use it. Pregnancy can be very stressful and stress triggers asthma attacks. Can you call your asthma doctor and tell him you're having problems and see if he can get you in sooner? Mine'll do that for me. You can also ask your pharmacist about the inhaler. I would also see an asthma specialist, if you're not seeing one already.
An FYI:
"A" class drugs are completely safe during pregnancy."B" class drugs, are safer than the other classes during pregnancy. My asthma doctor said there are very, very few "A" class drugs. But if the mother has to have it, the mother gets it. I think Advair is "C" class, safe for pregnancy but not for breastfeeding. And I read the lab results on the thin paper they give you with the drugs, and the results from the Pulmacort case studies were better than the ones from Advair.

Hope that helps

Asthma affects nearly 7 percent of pregnant women and, if left untreated, it can cause serious complications for both you and your baby. Preexisting asthma reacts differently with each woman once she is pregnant. Generally speaking, if you had severe asthma before your pregnancy, it will probably get worse while you are pregnant. If it was mild, it will probably improve. In about a third of women, it gets worse; in a third it gets better; and in another third it doesn't change. If your asthma or asthma attacks do become worse, it will probably be between your 24th and 36th weeks.

If you do not treat your asthma while you are pregnant, you may experience high blood pressure, toxemia, and premature delivery. Your baby may have an increased risk of being stillborn, delayed or impaired growth, premature birth, low birth weight, and a low APGAR score at birth.

Although you should not take any medication unless it is absolutely necessary and approved by your doctor, especially during the first trimester, the risks of not treating asthma outweigh the risks of most medications. In general, inhaled medications are preferred because only limited amounts of the drug enter the bloodstream.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

The best answer I can give you, is to call your doctor's office and talk to one of the nurses on duty.

You can always call a clinic or doctor and ask the question.
