what would happen once you reached the middle?

...Assuming we didn't die from the extreme heat.

Gravity pulls us towards the center of Earth, so would we pass the center, and fall "up"?

Besides die.

by the time you reach the middle you will have a certain speed. Your inertia will make you continue your journey to the other side of the of world. Gravity will pull you back again to the center and so on.
In fact you will be experiencing a pendulum like motion through the earth center. If you disregard any friction losses, there will be no stop.

You would die from suffocation, or lack of oxygen. I bet it would take you a good week or two to reach the other end, and you would run out of air to breath. Or at least clean air. It would probably be full of dust particles, so thick that it would coat your lungs and you would die. That is of course, assuming that gravity would be the same. Once you fell halfway thru, I think you would stop, becuase if you kept going, then you would actually be coming up from the ground on the other end. Good question! Makes you think.

Since the earth has a diameter of about 7,900 miles, that means the very middle would be 3950 miles down. Since that is such a long fall, the force of gravity would pull you down faster and faster (assuming that the gravity pressure is the same)... and soon when you go too fast, your body won't be able to handle it you could die of shock.

Not so hypothetically, you would be the most stupid person on earth, because if that hole existed then EVERYONE would know about it and if you fell into it -- you wold have to be very stupid!

On a more hypothetical note, your momentum from the fall would cause you to zip right on past the middle of the earth.

assuming this hole was full of air at temperatures you could survive, you'll drop and accelerate to a maximum speed because of friction with air, then start slowing because gravity pull will lessen as you get nearer the center and air pressure will increase. when you pass the middle point you will start a series of pendulum moves around the middle, each one shorter, until you finally stop at the middle.

if there was a hole through the center, i'm assuming that the molten core would be removed. if this were to happen there would be no more magnetic field and the atmosphere would dissapate. you would die from exposure from the suns harmful radiation faster than you could jump in.

Of course you'd be bouncing off the side of the hole, since the Earth is still rotating at 15 degrees/hour.

You will stay at the center after several bounces. No gravity at the center.

you would probally have aheart attack before you reach. And there is hot molton Lava in the core you ur burn very fast! How can you fall up. thats the whole point of falling. you go down.

The mole people would come get you and turn you into one of them to help feed the little red men who dance around on my coffee table eating up all my cookies.
