It is green just like anywhere else. Kentucky "bluegrass" gets its name from the fact that it looks blue under certain conditions. If a large field of bluegrass is allowed to grow to maturity, the seedheads have a bluish tint that is expecially noticeable in the light of early morning or late evening. Hence the name "bluegrass". This is not a common sight any longer in the Lexington "bluegrass" region since most of the thorobred horse farms carefully mow and manicure their fields and the grass is not allowed to grow to maturity.
Good luck with your search for information.
