Some tables have clamps that you have to undo but with others you simply pull the table apart. Check to make sure the leaf is in the proper position. Some of them have little "bullets" that go into a slot so make sure they are in the right direction and lines up. Then just push the table back together. I store ours under our guest bed.

Installing it is easy release the clamps holding the table tigether in the middle and with a partner pull the ends apart. When there is enough room lay the leaf in place and push the table closed.

Storing it under the table sounds like a bad idea because people would keep hitting their knees on it. I store mine under the bed laid flat because they can warp if left leaning for long periods of time.
