I'm at 11 1/2 weeks and have been cramping for a couple of days. Nothing strong, and no bleeding, but I did get really dehydrated last week and had to be admitted to the hospital. Could that have really hurt the baby and cause a miscarriage?

Your body does everything it can to protect the baby. My best friend had IV's because of how dehydrated she was, and now she's 28 weeks along and doing fine.

dehydration is really bad, however are you drinking plenty of water now? Being hydrated should take care of it, I live in TX where the weather is hell! and even when I am home I am always drinking water, do not substitute water with juices, sodas or coffee, and if you go somewhere make sure that the first thing you pack is water! Anyway, cramping if mild and not for a lot of days at a time is normal, it is your uterus expanding.

Your baby should be safe inside the womb right now you are still far from your second trimester which should start at 14 weeks according to what to expect when you are expecting book and my doctor. You are still at risk of a miscarriage and if you do not take care of yourself you will regret it. So this is what I suggest you to do is rest as much as possible, drink about 80 oz of water a day, if you keep cramping every day...then I would make an appointment, If you have spotting or any bleeding at all go to the ER immediately.

The cramping can be from your uterus stretching...dehydration can cause contractions but it may not affect your child..i was 4 mths preg. when i was admitted for dehydration and my son is 100% healthy...just make sure to drink enough water and stay away from caffeine which will make u dehydrated...miscarriages are usually when your body cannot hold/carry the baby and/if their is something wrong w/ the baby..my gyno told me that when i was cramping and bleeding early in my 2nd pregnancy..

Cramping can be a sign of a few different things. Abdominal muscles are stretching and that can cause cramping. I had cramping and that is what it was with me.

If the cramping is severe and persistent you need to contact your doctor immediately because it could be something more serious.

i dont really know the answer to this but i do know that i am preg with my second child and for the first 3 months i had cramping, nothing very serious like bleeding or anything just menstrual like cramps...if you are not bleeding and can walk and move around fine then you are fine...as for the baby goes they should have checked the baby to make sure it was ok....just stay well hydrated with water!!!!!! if you were miscarrying you would know it...good luck

I had cramps sometimes and got worried. It's usually your body adjusting and growing for the baby. Call your doctor and keep drinking tons of water. I used to walk around with a water bottle in my hand and had one at my desk and one at home waiting for me so I would drink enough. I also couldn't get enough water. I once drank 12 glasses of water at dinner at a restaurant. The server brought me a pitcher just for me. Ha ha!

that is normal. but when it get sharp and painful that when you have to worry. I was at work pregnant with my first and my back and abdomen were cramping so bad my boss called my mom and my mom rushed my to the ER. The ER said I was dehydrated. To stop the pain they did give me a wicked cool pain killer. I have no clue what it was but it knocked me out. The best night sleep I had in three months. lol

It can. Dehydration can cause your body to loose water so I suggest you drink lots and lots of water in addition to the amound needed daily. Talk to your doctor for more information on how to eat/drink healthier.
