Yes, the laptop will work though the battery may not hold electric charge. This means that: for you to use the laptop computer, the external power adapter MUST be plugged to your house power outlet. Please note that as soon as you switch off the outlet or you disconnect the power adater, the laptop will go off immediately.
You will do well to purchase a replacement for the battery pack so that you can enjoy the benefit of using a laptop - which is the ability to work on batter for a couple of hours before recharging.

The problem is in the battery itself, and not with the laptop. The best solution would be to buy a new battery. The operation of the laptop will not be affected.

Yes. I have a couple of laptop computers whose batteries won't hold more than a few minutes' worth of charge. I use them plugged in.

Depends on the model but most likely it will still work. you can also find a replacement battery online or if there is a Batteries Plus near you, I can almost guarantee they would be able to get you one.

You can even remove the battery if you want. It'll still work when plugged in. And it'll be lighter!
