Is it an editorial or informational section? Here are some suggestions:
Clicks: What makes certain people gravitate to certain groups
Deals: How to get the most for your money around town
My Space: How to protect yourself against online preditors
T.V. Critic: News on the hottest shows
Diet: Healthy eating for the successful student

Write an article on how many of the professors graduated from that school and are now on a tenured track.

Do an "education facts" kids today don't seem to go to learn...they just wait so they can leave and get home to their playstations or computers. talk about some of these problems and the statistics. instead of "10 things to loose weight" give "5 study tips" or time management

Find an alum that has done something important either in your community or in the wider world and write a profile on them. Interview them if you can.
Call it, "Tiger tracks" or "Bear tracks" or whatever your mascot is.
That's something you could write on every week/month/whatever.

Dude be creative. Look around your school for news. Events happen, celebrations, visits by important people etc.

write about if students are driving more or less these days due to high gas prices or what other alternatives are they using to get around

You can write on articles related to your interests.
suggestions:
-Social issues, eg. binge drinking, teenage sex, safe sex, community involvement of teenagers, safety on internet, drug abuse
-Commentary on blogs in your school
-Fashion tips
-Stories on courageous acts, eg. nabbing of thieves, distributing of food in food kitchens, rescuing of victims in fires, storms etc

sports, social events, interveiw new comers.....introduce new ideas, pep rallies...extraordinary individuals who go above and beyond.....
