Why are there so many of us on yahoo answers saying "I'm beginning not to like black people" "Give white people a break", "I'm black but I don't like black people" "All my black friends are stupid" "i'm mixed but i hate my black side"

Come on...Really people...There is nothing wrong with having pride in yourself and your own race. You can still like whites, hispanics, asians, hispanics, etc. Why do black people sometimes feel they have to degrade people just like themselves to fit into society or to be not seen as racist. Maybe you just don't associate with the right types of people....period. This has nothing to do with what color they are. There is nothing wrong with loving who you are. There is nothing wrong with loving yourself AND others. There is nothing wrong with moving on to other places and meeting different TYPES of black people. Come one people why hate, generalize, and stereotypes yourselves.

Black have in the past and still today make many contributions to this world. I'm sure there are black teachers teaching your children, or a black doctor who tends to your illnesses, or a black owner of a coporation. We just don't here about it that much, because black people are often still more popular from their stereotypes then from their actualities. "White pride" is not a bad word, but it's mostly only used by those who have hate in their heart. i don't walk around saying "Black pride...Black pride", but i do know who I am and am happy with what i have accomplished in life.

I agree!!! I love being black. I am proud to be black. And if I had the choice of being any color under the sun... I would still choose black.
I think a lot of "our people" are very far out of touch from whats going on in our communities. They deny the oppression that is still going on in black communities, and they are very quick to jump on board with all these "White" theories as to what is wrong with black people. Its kind of sad. They should be trying to build up our black people instead of trying to tear them down. We have enough people to do that.

My significant other and I were having a major conversation yesterday on this very subject. We are whites in a heavily populated black neighborhood. We have met lots of different types of people. Some are fantanstic friends we would trust our lives with, others we wouldn't trust with a burnt-out match. But that's the same in any race or culture. The general conclusiuon we came up with was that it was easier to just go with the flow - and the stereotypes- than it was to try to change them, because they are so huge and prevalent. You have to want to change bad enough.

Check out the book "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking" by Malcolm Gladwell. There is one section that talks about racist reaction by people. It's not something that is specific to any person EVERYONE has subconcious reactions (racist or otherwise) to people that influence daily lives.

As to the concious hatred of a specific race, religion, ethnicity, culture, etc., I really don't know why people do that.

If there is nothing wrong with pride in ones race why is "white pride" such a bad word? The reason more blacks are not proud is simply because George Washington Carver was possibly the last black person to do anything of value. Think about it for a second medicine, science, math, engineering, space travel all advanced to where they are now by white people. If you want black pride go to school learn and do stuff to be proud of.

I think you answered your own question here, these people are uncomfortable with themselves. Instead of finding out who they are and what they want to accomplishment in life, their busy trying to establish race and the needs of others. Like I always say until this worlds ends, this race thing will go on and on and on...

In the country where I live the lighter colored people make fun and degrade the darker colored people. It is on television and all around. People will be people but things will change because it cannot carry on this way.

Cause every race has those within it that other feel are not the best represenative of that race. So those you refer to are taking it upon themselves to show that not all think the way the stereotypes suggest and want to make a change.

I absolutely hate stereotyping! I am an individual. I have no genetic predisposition toward crime, rapping, dancing (although I can dance my *** off), liking certain foods, voting a certain way, having certain religious beliefs, low IQ's or poverty. If you are too lazy to get to know the fabulous woman I am, than f*ck you, too!

Most black people hate them selves because of how they were raised. So black people were raised around so many white they start to hate them selves and want to be white(SAD). Or they she they see the behavior of SOME of their sisters and brothers and are disappointed and don't want to be a part of it.

Because they are hoping it will make them "more accepted" in society. Although, they fit in and are accepted every where, the ACLU, liberal media, etc. likes to portray that the "white man" is still holding the "black man" down.
