found a wallet with, say $100.00 in it? If you have or if you would find such a treasure, would you return it?

I never have, but I know that if I ever did I would want to return it to it's owner. There was one time that I was out and had my ID, a credit card, and $40 in my back pocket (stupid, I know) and it fell out in the bathroom. I had no idea, but a stranger looked at my picture on the ID and found me and returned EVERYTHING to me. I mean, she could have even given me back the cards but kept the cash and instead she returned it all. That was like the nicest surprise ever, and the biggest shock. So, I would like to be able to do the same for someone if it ever comes up.

lol.. $100 is "such a treasure" compared to your self respect? =T... even if i stole $1 i would probably feel bad. but that's because, in the place i am in my life, i HAVE $1, or $100 for myself. i can make it myself. i have No need to steal it.

if i was poor, starving, fending for my child, i might have to steal the money. but not because i Want to. because i have to. there is a difference. and yes, if i had the address, perhaps i would always *want* to mail the $100 i borrowed back if i ever came up in the world, even if it was 50 years later.

Yes, I would return it. If the police found out that you found a wallet and you didn't return it they could say that you stole the wallet and arrest you and question you.

I found a wallet once with a lot of cash in it in at a baseball game. I was tempted to keep it but then got a guilty feeling in my gut and mailed it to the address on his lisence.

I once purchased a used car for my son. After the purchase we found a small file box inside the trunk where the spare tire would normally be. Inside were so many valuables! An extensive coin collection....stock certificates....a will. Among many other things. By law if we were to keep it it would be legal. However............in our hearts we knew it wasnt ours. We called the dealership found out who had traded this car in..............turned out to be a very elderly gent. We retrurned his treasure to him. I have never regretted doing so. I will reap my reward in heaven!

Return the wallet without the cash...its a finder's fee. The trouble you saved him is worth it.
