Nicole Camille Escovedo was born in Berkeley, California, on September 21, 1981. Her biological parents were Peter Michael Escovedo, a member of Lionel Richie's band and brother to '80s pop percussionist Sheila E., and an anonymous backstage assistant.
At the age of 3, for financial reasons, Nicole moved in with her father's bandmate Lionel and his then-wife Brenda Harvey-Richie. Six years later, Richie officially adopted Nicole.

Actually I saw her once on E getting interviewed on the red carpet and she was saying how she uses fake tans and how thats odd that she needs them since she's black. Shelia E is black and mexican and if her brother is Nicoles dad, then Nicole would be black, mexican, and white. I didnt know though that Sheila E's bro was her dad. I thought she was half black, not 25 percent cause to me she looks half. Having straight blond hair doesnt erase her ethnicity. I remember when she had curly darker hair. She clearly looked partially african american.
At the très swank soiree for The O.C., a seemingly endless stream of reporters, Industry types and mostly Fox costars took turns chatting up the Simple girls. During my interview, Norm Macdonald (starring on the upcoming Fox show A Minute with Stan Hooper) cruised up and (rather forcefully) asked Paris how much money her family makes. After Paris played along for a bit, he turned to Nicole.
Norm: "Isn't Lionel Richie a black guy?"
Paris: "She's black!"
Nicole: "I am black!"
Norm: "You're black?"

I think just part. I know one thing. That girl needs to gain some weight. I saw a picture of her in a bikini and she weighs 87 pounds and her skin is hanging on her skeleton.

No. Her father was in Lionel Richie's band. He's the brother of Sheila E. Her mother was some roadie who was white.

she's adopted so she probably doesn't even know if she's african american , she was adopted at a very young age but she's possibly mixed

yes and lineol isn't her real dad. he adopted her when he married her mom. mom is white and real dad is african-american. i don't remember his name but her real dad is also a musician.
