I think I read a few articles like that once. Isn't it a shame! And women are so unsympathetic sometimes. We're generally bigger and stronger than they are, but that doesn't mean we hurt any less! But really, it sounds like your wife is just spouting some cliche she heard somewhere on TV. Many women get a kick out of putting men down. I would be irritated if I were married and my wife started rambling about that. When one or both of you is sick, you should be trying to make each other feel better and not chime in with subtle insults or nagging. Good luck with the cold!

And to everyone who thinks men just whine more than women, think about this: Men are encouraged to be strong and silent (you admit it yourselves that you don't like to hear them whine). But men live shorter lives than women (about 7 years shorter on average, the last time I checked; probably more now). Do you think it is possible for that to happen because men sometimes try to ignore their health problems to avoid showing weakness? Many men have to practically be dying before they will break down and see a doctor. Men are also overlooked and looked down upon in our society. Whoever said it was a "man's world" obviously didn't know what they were talking about! I'm so sick of this BS . . . .

Omigod! Women don't moan when they are ill cos we still have to do everyday things like clean, cook, look after kids etc... and don't have time to feel sorry for themselves... whereas men take the day off work and stay in bed demanding the wife's attention, that's when all married women realise they have indeed got one more child than they gave birth to!

I'm not sure about scientific fact but it's something to watch a man wimper and complain about having a fever, not feeling well and that he can't move a muscle when all he has is a cold... just about all the men in my family are like that.

YES, Men suffer more with colds than women do because we are far more sensitive than women, that's what makes us good romantic lovers. Also we have more stressful lives which weakens the immune system.

Men get the same germs/virus as women & it is just a sad fact of life that men can't cope as well with everyday life when they are feeling below par. Women have no choice as many are running a home & working full-time.

Males don't ever catch a cold. The scientific name is "man flu". You act as though you are about to doeat any moment and when you pass it on to your wife, who has probably had to spend 3 days or more putting up with your whinging and mopping your brow, getting you bowls of soup etc. you don't even notice!!! GRRRR

No they don't suffer more. They are just babies. Men can't have the tiniest little stomach ache or cough without bi*tching and moaning about how they feel like they're dying. Suck it up and get over it. We deal with cramps, periods, childbirth, the flu, and men.

NO, it's a scientific fact that men like to whine about their ailments and women (traditionally the ones who bring up the kids) learn to cope with things better.....so stop whining and go and make your Mrs a cup of tea.....she deserves it!
