first of all. admit that you are passing through a tough period and try to understand that you can do everything to get better. it's all up to you, if you want to bring a change into you life, to improve you life, you way of thinking and your lifestyle. it's easy. when you are done let me know.
second. try to take a piece of paper and write goods and bads of your own person. be honest. ok. now, tell me, which of the bed ones can be changed and in which way? which of the good ones can be used in your every-day-life?
third. relationships and expectations. what you give and what you get. try also to make a list.
four. I'm sure you already lost your interest and it will be so boring that i post here a list, but I'm only going to tell you something very important: whatever you do, try to be honest with yourself. it takes a little time to ask yourself what you really want/expect/conceive and receive also. I'm sure you'll have a reason to be glad everyday that you are alive...

It depends how long you have been depressed and if it is a chemical imbalance. To help with depression, you can spend time with your friends, volunteer at a shelter, exercise, and talk to someone you trust about your feelings, experiences and thoughts.

If it is serious, you should seek help.
If you aren't sure, seek help to decide.
If it is only minor - regular exercise helps increase your endorphins. Also, don't drink alcohol, it is a depressant.

w/o using prescribed drugs, you can work out a lot, talk to friends, family, get sleep, do activities that make you happy. what really works, is talking it out with someone who will understand.
