The firehawk is basically a "sleeper". It maintains the body of the lesser, Firebird. The transam has much more agressive fron ends, larger rims, and the raised spoiler. the 4th gens 93-2002 has 2 motor options. You had the Lt1 from 93-97. Yes some have a functional ram air hood like the WS6 trans am. From 98-2002 the Firehawk received the Ls1.
And for the person who said ls6 is the vetter, well yeah, but not all vettes. The numbers you are quoting are the c5 z06, the normal c5 vette has the ls1.

A fFire hawk Has a better breathing system (4 breather elements instead of 1) A WS6 has 2, and theFirehawk has a better supension than a Firebird up till the last yr made(2002 Ws6 Pkg) A Firehawk was done offsite by another co. They upgraded the suspension and the breathing system of the engine and electronically hopped up the engine

1991-1992 had a high performance 350 with a T-Ram
1993-1997 had the stock LT1, with a few in 1997 getting the LT4
1999-2002 had the stock LS1
Check out the Literature page on the The Official Firehawk Web Site, firehawk.org, for more information on options and upgrades.

It's an eight cylinder, it will have either an LS1 or an LS2 aluminum engine, the same engine found in the Corvettes, generating upwards from 300 horsepower. Now, some Firehawks come with an "SLP" performance package, whose engine is the same, it's just the components which change. The SLP package puts out close to 380 horsepower. That's the real beast right there! Hope you like buying tires often.

Ok slap whoever said LS-4...There has never been an "LS-4".
They are probably refering to the "LT-4" which was a corvette motor used on VERY VERY select camaros and trans ams coming from slp in 1997. In 1998 of course chevrolet switch to the LS-1 motor.
The firehawk is a standard WS-6 Package Trans Am with "special look good" visual parts.
Oh and they never put the LT-1 motors in the camaros or trans ams until 1993.
1993-1997 Lt-1
1998-2002 Ls-1
I saw that the LS-4 remark was changed to LS-6...No such motor...needs to be slapped even harder for changing wrong answer to another wrong answer. (FOR DAVE BELOW...I MEANT NO SUCH MOTOR IN THE CAMARO OR FIREBIRD)
For the guy below me..slap him too..they never had 380 horse...the most they ever dyno'd at was 345..they were not "overated" by chevy or pontiac like most people claim. They also never had an LS-2 in them...although the pontiac GTO switched from LS-1 to LS-2 in 2005. I must admit that SOME 2002 camaro's and trans ams had LS-2 BLOCKs in them, but this is not the same as having the entire motor...look at the top lef tof the motor block..if it has a bulls eye cast on the block it is an LS1 block..this happened because the ran out of LS-1 block during production.
Last note...all cars prior to 1999 were sent to SLP for modifications, after 99 chevy broke off their relation ship with them although not entirely, they still sent cars to SLP for select modifications. NON of which increased the horsepower rating over 345.

I'm pretty sure it was a V8. Plain stock Firebirds came with a V6. I know Trans Am's came with a V8, and I believe the Firehawk did as well. I had a 1992 Trans Am with a 5.7L 350 V8 and 5 speed transmission.

5.7 liter V8, just like in the Trans Am WS6. Where you will pay the extra money is in the looks, not the engine.
