This person probably has a personality disorder of some sort - possibly a narcissistic personality. Honestly, almost nothing you can do about it. They rarely change, because it has been with them all of their lives.

This is a great question... My personal opinion is... if someone came up to me... and bragged on how smart he or she is... compared to people that are not so smart... I would use that form of intellegence "so called" to prove her wrong. I am like that anyways. Now I dont think that I am sooo intellengent. But I know stuff... I want to know stuff... I have a desire to know stuff... I am a knowledge seeker... ( sort of speaking). And knowing something that is a fact and knowing something in your personal opinion is completely different.

Does this person have issues? lol I dont know... maybe she or he has not learned the concept that everybody is different. People have street smarts... and people have book smarts... and people have common sense. The person does not have common sense if he or she goes around saying how intellegent she or he is compared to another person... just shows how much she doesnt know!! Cause people that do that... in which I have learned from expereince.. lol... just show their ***. Cause you would be surprised who really is intellegent and who is not capable of knowing so much.

Well that is my opinion... lol

I love it when someone comes to me... and well of course not knowing me... shows their wits. I love to prove them wrong. But that is me... And if it really bothers you... tell them sooo what.... who cares... at least I know that I am not a smart *** like you. lol.. Or you could say... ohhh yeah, well show me how smart you really are... make them prove to you that they are. You might find them dumb founded. LOL

.

.. vociferous.

.. they are.

.. I have a friend that is the same way. Most people that meet him, hate him at first .. because he is so outspoken about his intelligence and others lack of.

.. Maybe they have issues .. but everyone does. Their issue is that you need to know how to talk to them. I find myself speaking at a much higher level when I talk to him.

yeah, The person is insecure and probably needs to be told constantly that is smart in order to really believe it.
Be honest and tell this person that you all already know how smart t is, and that (s)he shouldn't be doing it as it's annoying.

It's a common state, I observed in people, the issue is he/ she becomes offensive to others. the only way to deal with him / her is to ignore.

Depends...If the person has other qualities, then just ignore it or nod. If he's an idiot, shoot'em or prove them they're not right. Many people think that way..

this person is surely not a genius.

just ignore most part of what that person sayes or does refering to himself or you. a lot og self-confidence is not always usefull, try to analize more what comes from that person. and if it's you boss and you have the chance to quit and get another job, do it.

Ignore them.

@$$HOLE obviously.

I KNOW I am smarter than most people, but I do not brag about it. No in public anyway. IRL that is.

Eventually , you get tired of it and keep your distance .
When it's Rush Limbaugh-you KNOW he has to tie half his brain behind his back , just to make it fair .He can't help it .
But when it is someone else ..it's just wrong .
