Mine was an emergency c section. The epidural worked well but I could feel sharp pain in just one area. I didn't say anything at first until my baby was out and breathing. Then I told the doctor about the pain and I was given a big fat dose of pain med. The meds made me feel wonky and I was scared to hold my baby- I felt a little drunk. I didn't hold him for a few hours. As there was a big rush, I felt like he was ripped from me instead of me giving birth to him. Recovery was longer and more painful with the c-section. ( I was up and kicking after v delivery) I really liked giving birth the old fashioned way better, but any birth that results in a healthy baby is a success.

I was pretty upset to get mine. I really wanted to have a natural birth, but after 29 hours, my son's heartbeat was dropping and he flatlined. He is fine.
My second brother was not a C-section and he should have been. He has disabilities and has been slower than the rest of us his whole life.
So, if there is a need, I say do it. I would never electively do it though!
I was in a lot of pain for about a week, but I'd been in labor for a long time. My girlfriend just had her second C-Section and she said her recovery was much easier (because she had not been in labor first).
I am pregnant again and will be having a C-Section because of the risks associated with VBACs and my body just doesn't give birth well.
My husband was with me and the baby was brought to me right away. I got to nurse in the recovery room.
I do like that I'll know exactly when my next baby is coming and can prepare my home and my son......but I would never have chosen this, but thank God the technology exists.
I don't think it is very nice to call someone an idiot for how they feel. I felt badly after my C-section. I've had a 18 year battle with endometriosis and having my baby was supposed to be my moment of victory over the bleeding, pain, and leaking all over my boyfriends car seat on our first date!!!!!
But the fact that I conceived my children is victory enough.
The hospital doesn't help.....I'd been in labor for 29 hours, 22 without any medication.....It was nearly midnight and they bring me a form to sign, under reason it says "FAILURE TO PROGRESS"
You're tired, scared and emotional and the experts call you or your body FAILURE.
I got over it and am gladly having my second one.

Mine wasn't scheduled. My labor stalled at 5 cm, so they performed c-section to keep from putting us at risk. I knew going into the last weeks that a c-section was likely because they guessed my son's weiight at 8 lbs a month before he was due.
The first few days were rough. I also spent my first week at home with no help during the day. I was sooooo glad to get the staples out.... But I can honestly say that it wasn't horrible.
My next pregnancy will be a scheduled c-section because hospitals are steering away from VBACs and my labor will probably stall again. I actually don't know that I could withstand the pain of a vaginal birth. Those last contractions before they took me to surgery were ROUGH.

Not good. It was an emergency one at 2:oo am and I almost died from loss of blood, before I even got to the hospital. My baby had to be delivered asap or she wouldnt have made it and she was over 2 months early. She went to a pediatric specialty hospital and 3 days later when I woke up I got to see her. We stayed in the hospital for 5 weeks before coming home. She is 4 now and you would never know she was a preemie. I was in some serious pain afterwards. I had and older child that i had naturally, and i would prefer that method over the other. Just too painfull and unnatural.

My first baby was an emergency c-sect since she was breech. I went into labour before they found this out. I guess I recovered pretty well, but I had to have a sheduled c-sect with my second baby, and it seemed harder to recover from. I suppose that if I had a choice I wouldv'e given birth naturally.
I think women who believe that they are failures for not giving natural birth are idiots though.

i had a hard time recovering- about 3 weeks to sit up, about six to be able to do most things normally. I also opened up at 3 months (closed itself after alcohol swabbing for a few days).
But, glad I could sit down, that my 'bits' were undamaged and that my baby was safe. Would go for it again.

My recovery from a c-section was slow. I did a vaginal birth the second time around and remember having way more energy. I really believe that all the drugs they gave me affected me...made me feel sluggish and emotional.

Mine was necessary or I probably wouldn't have wanted it. However, you do have less problems with urinary incontinence when you have a c-section. I had two natural and the last c-section. I prefer the natural, if it comes to that.
