Classic Greek Philosophy is the basis for what the western world lives by. It offers the basic principles of justice and punishment through the teachings of Socrates and Aristotle as well as the foundations for all modern democracies. Furthermore, these philisophies are what almost every modern government is based upon, even fascism and socialism take a page from the teachings of Maciavelli (italian used greek philosophy to prove his own logic) and Nitzche (german who did the same). These philisophies can still be seen in debates today in politics through philiosophers such as Isaih Berlin and Leo Strouss, many people belive that our current government followed these ideals in order to pursue their goals in such things as the war in Iraq. Ancient Greek philosophy is very much alive in debate and its influences can be seen everywhere you look.
