Go to your local immigration office, there is one in every city, for that go to USCIS.GOV and make an appointment ( using infopass) and they might be able to give you some sort of permit or something, also try calling their costumer service number and talk to an officer and tell them about the funeral, their number is 1800-375-5283. Good luck.

Try contacting USCIS (INS) and see what they'll do to expedite your case, but it's not a good situation you're in. Do not leave the US unless they issue that replacement card. There's no good explanation you could possibly give to Immigration when you come back w/o your green card, even a funeral. Good luck.

Go to your local INS office, but first you have to fill out the application online (their new process) and pay $260. You should have the stamp the same day. You will get a stamp in your passport until they send you a letter to do fingerprints etc again. You are able to travel on that.
Do it early and take your plane ticket and death certificate if possible. Good luck :-)

One week is a short period of time to get a new one. So my advice is contact the immigration and naturalization office immediately and report that it is lost and explain your situation maybe they can issue you some type of document temporarily so you can attend the funeral. I am not sure if you'll get through becauase these offices do things on their own time not ours but it is worth a try. You need to call them immediately!!!!

Kind of foolish of you not to keep your green card in a safe place and a copy of it in your purse, wasn't it.
Just contact the ICE folks and tell them your situation and hope for the best.
I preseume you already have a valid passport from your country of origin. You'll need this to get into any other country.
