I cant understand why he wanted to run for reelection. He abandoned his city before Katrina, by going to Baton Rouge the day before the storm, then sat by and did nothing as people died and suffered.

FANTASTIC MAYOR. Lived here all my life, and considering two days before katrina hit it was supposed to hit florida, he declared a mandatory evacuation for the first time in new orleans history, and more than a million peoplel left, less than a thousad died....sounds like a success story to me...that's why he was re-elected. and by the way, nagin was a republican fundraiser up until he ran for mayor as a dem (its the only way to win in n.o.) -- remember, louisiana is a red state...
..NOWLet me clear up some of the obvious ignorance regarding Katrina. It is quite simple. The army corps of engineers' JOB is to FIX and MAINTAIN the levees. They asked for more money EVERY YEAR since 2000 and were turned down and given less EVERY YEAR since by the present administration. POINT TWO: back on september 11th 1965, LBJ was able to show up in new orleans, photo-op or not, indicating that the govt cared, within 24hrs of the levee breaches...WHAT was the present administration doing? Let's take a look. THREE days after the storm hit, well, let's see, Chimpy McFLightSuit was playing air guitar...Cheney was unseen...Condi Rice was buying 1000 dollar shoes...security chertoff was at a convention in atlanta...and brownie was being fed false information... what is it you "patriots" dont understand? Turning your back on 1 million people is not a domestic policy. sorry.

N W A baby - all the way. I like him. I still do not know why Americas' ebony elite do not rally behind this guy. If New Orleans is ever to be that Sweet Chocolate Sundae that it once was, and I hope it is, 'Bucky Balls' Nagan is the man for the job.
I would love to see this guy go 1 on 1 with the Bush Whacker in a UFC format. Beat him and seed him!

He is an idiot. To try to divert how little progress he has made rebuilding New Orleans - he says "what about 9/11 & the Twin Towers" all you have is a hole in the ground.
Not the same, many investigatations had to be made, many of the victims families did not want repair until decision was made on what to rebuild with.
Nagin has no tact whatsoever & no intelligence to go with it. Yeah now I want to send more tax dollars to a mayor who insults the victims of the biggest terrorist attack on the US mainland. NOT!

I like him...
everyone is trying to blame him but he called for aid before Katrina hit and he couldnt do anything more.
Its the civilians fault for not leaving....not the governments.

Corrupt, bungling, racist idiot, who flaunted higher authority and refused to cooperate with anyone. He played to the emotions of "his people" but never meant a word of what he said to them..

He's a bozo. Like Katrina, as awful as it was, can IN ANY WAY be compared with "that hole in the ground" we have. I'd like to give HIM a hole in the ground.

i kind of like him, he speaks his mind. how many politicians do you know who do that? he made some valid points about how slow the feds responded to new orleans as compared to new york. i guess there was no political gain for bush jr so he ignored them.
patrick- he didn't have the resources to evacuate or rescue his people and he had to leave the day before, because there was a HURRICANE coming
