I disagree with the premise of your question. I don't think the right is heartless. I live in Canada and the left has been in power up here for about 22 of the last 30 years. The solutions proposed by the left have done nothing to solve any of the social problems that we encounter here. Child Poverty, Homelessness, and the Environment are but three of many examples where left leaning ideas have exacerbated rather than solved the issues. There is a continual and rarely challenged narrative that goes on up here among the Chardonnay Socialists and the other elites of the chattering class that individual rights always trump individual and collective responsibilities. People are never responsible for the outcome of their actions and only more government money, legislation or bureaucracy can solve a problem. I think real solutions require that compassion is balanced with wisdom and common sense and honesty.

Politics is just another distraction for the public. It has no more merit than Survivor or American Idol. It gives all of us little people the illusion that we have some kind of control over the world, and that we're well informed and erudite, but in reality it's just a big shell game.
In addition, the media representation would have us believe that people really are "left" and "right," "conservative," or "liberal," but in reality, most people, I believe 80% in the last survey I read, hold a mix of views, and only have a tendency towards one side or the other. There's a small portion of the population that makes a lot of noise, and most of them are extremists.
But I will say this: of those who do toe the party line, it seems that most right-wingers are concrete thinkers, which in a sense, would make them "heart-people," whereas left-wingers are abstract thinkers, making them "brain-people." That's not a slight against either one, as neither way of thinking is "wrong." Both sides use propaganda, and have their own dogma.

Good question, no the left is made up of people that see the whole issue and weigh the consequences of ones decisions. The right are the ones that are mentally diminished and will do things like start a war for no reason other the to enrich themselves. Never mind the 2600 dead and 10's of thousands of wounded Americans. The quagmire that was created and the lose of esteem in the rest of the world. That is why the democrats must take back the House or Senate or both this election to provide checks and balances to this failed and criminal administration.

The left are certainly brainless, but the right heartless? No I can't agree there. I am very much a right winger, and consider myself to be quite compassionate towards my fellow man, but I do not suffer fools gladly!!
