Hello, my hubby and I own a medi/dayspa. We have a massage therapist and 3 aestheticians(skin care therapists, myself included). I honestly believe being a massage therapist just for the money will not satisfy you. I have been to many spas and had many massages, but if I don't feel the positive energy flowing from the therapist my massage has gone down the drain. You have to have a certain flow and rhythm when massaging, that is exactly what our therapist has and ofcourse it takes time to develop this, she has been in the biz for more than 10 years, I cannot enjoy massages any where else now, because she has so much energy. You learn how to heal the body from the inside, ofcourse starting with our muscles, lymphatic drainage, stone massages, pregnancy massage, its wonderful field, but you have to be up for the challenge when a client wants a deep tissue, you have to have strong hands and muscles to deliver the service. Money wise, you have to be smart on where you want to work, a chiropractic office, salon or resort? I say resorts are always best, but you won't get to form a relationship with your clients, for some that works, but our therapist loves to chat and be concerned about her customers, everyone is different, eh? Good luck and also choosing a good school is very important, ones that focus on eastern philosophy are best.
