It was Brando who opened the door for all of them in "The Wild One."
But James Dean will always be my favorite. (It was probably good for his image that he died so young ... he never had the chance to become a bloated self-parody like Brando. It would have been interesting to see how his careet developed, though.

It was Marlon Brando that started it. But James Dean followed and made himself known with the teens of the 50's but also helped that he died young which is tragic because he had a great career going for him. But Steve Mcqueen is the one of the kings of cool.
