If you do, what did you think of him then? How amazing that he
went from a absolute unknown to the biggest pop singer on the planet in the span of a year(1982 to 1983). Before you knew it,
Boy George was everywhere. MTV, record stores, talk shows,
etc. Thay even had lunchboxes for kids with Boy George on
them. My opinion is that Boy George was one of a trio of freaks
that became beloved by the American populace. The other two
are Tiny Tim, who whored the airwaves(laugh-in, Johnny Carson)
in the late 60's, and PeeWee Herman, who of course was much
beloved by children of all ages until he was caught red-handed
(pun intended) in the XXX theater in florida.
Again, who remembers Boy George that was around when he was popular in '83-84, and what do you think of him now?

I remember Boy George. Thought he was a Queer but, who didnt ? He is British, from the U.K. where most of his work is done. there he done records that has never been released to the US and probably never will be. Used his songs in several American movies, like the " Wedding Singer " with Adam Sandler. Not sure how well you remember him but he did get his second US Album relase in 1989 called " High Hat ". He had later in the early 90's became a solo Artist in the US and was in a acting production with the Pet Shop Boys I believe in 1992 or 1993. There is a Boy George Culture Club that people can join on the internet at BOY GEORGE dot COM. As for his troubles now, well, lots of people do and just cause of his popularity makes it more wrong than the next person. So he screwed up, still no reason to be judgemental on the man. Let him serve his punishment for his crimes and let him be and hope for the best not only in him but for everyone !!
Hope this is the answer you were looking for !! Can use the extra 10 pts. !! hint. hint. lol !!

I loved Boy George when I was a kid. I remember running around the house singing Karma Chameleon. I was like 7 or 8 back then so I had no idea he was a "freak" so to speak. Or that he was actually a gay man. I didn't care. I just thought he was colorful and that his song was catchy. I also loved Pee Wee Herman. Not too familiar with Tiny Tim. But I think all three are just an example of how society can transform a person into a larger than life character and later tear them down.

I do remember him w/ The Culture Club and songs like Karma Cameleon, Do you really want to hurt me? etc.I do think it is terrible what heroin does to people. But we never MADE him addicted to it,that is something even fame can't do.As for us not judging him ,isn't the phrase "I thought he was a Queer "judgemental?Or maybe the cowboy forgot what judgemental meant when he left the theater after seeing Brokeback Mountain.LOL :)as for Peewee he was/is strange but loved those little kids(and big men as it turns out)0oh, giddy up cowboy)Tiny Tim was /is a joke and the wedding to miss Vicky strange tv.As far as the biggest pop singer on the planet ,well we still have Wacko Jacko. Now who wants to talk about strange?

I liked some his songs back then. I was more into my metalhead phase however. Sabbath, Ronny James Dio, then a couple of years later I started into Stevie Ray Vaughn and stayed with that sort of thing. Boy George now? It's sad really maybe this is why all the good rockers die from drug abuse? Look at the alternative becoming a pathetic shadow of your past glory, living on the currency of fame spent long ago!!

I thought he was weird then and I think he is even weirder now. He has been and probabley will always be a drug addict. What an idiot he is. Sorry ;my opinion is a little harse but he definately is someone who I particularily don't care to listen to. I think his punishment should have been something a little tougher than sweeping the streets.

He was cool in his time - but now he is just an over dramatic drag queen which are more common these days than when he came out. Isn't he in trouble a lot now and working for the sanitation department in NY??

I do, I remember being all caught up in the BG phenomenon.
I even went to one of his concerts and I have the pictures to prove it.
I think he just threw his money away, and didn't do anything significant as a human being. I could care less for him now.

Seems like he is on the skids. He got in trouble in New York and had to do some community service. Sweeping the streets.

"Biggest pop singer on the planet"? I don't know about that.
I did just hear "Karma Chameleon" a few minutes ago and must confess to tapping my feet.
