I'm a Dem. No Republicans candidates can win my vote!
Pro-Gay, Pro-Choice...just generally subversive, that's me.
P.S.--You should post this Q in Society&Culture so more GLBT can answer.

There are are a lot of gays in the U.S., but they still make up only about 8-10% of the population. Even if you count their supporters, it doesn't really matter how they vote. The overwhelming majority of the American population (Democrats too! Though I'm sure it makes you feel good to single out the Republicans) do not want their traditions changed to appease a minority which is little more than a special interest group.
Americans have been overturning concessions granted to the gay movement by activist judges and will continue to do so regardless of what any democrat or republican has to say about the issue. We object to gay marriage for the same reason we object to polygamy or any other perversion of matrimony. They are naked attempts to change the nature of our society and we will not stand for it.

Just a little information. In the last election...John Kerry the Democratic candidate was also against Gay Marriage. He just chose to not make it a major issue in his platform.
Personally I would rather have a president who stands up for what he believes, has enough gumption to swim against the stream and try to affect real change in this country. Whether or not I agree with him those are qualities I would want in a leader of a company I was working for and those are qualities I would want in a leader of a country I was living in.
If you worked for a job that never took risks to try to get ahead you would critcize your ceo. Then again your uniformed opinions may keep you from seeing the world as it really is.

The whole state level gay marriage ammendments were a very successful ploy to bring out the great unwashed bigoted masses to vote for an 'emotional' issue. This way they'd vote republican, even though the republicans basically screwed over the lower middle class in this country from a financial perspective.
in the old days- people voted with their wallets. Now, they vote with their preacher.
A very clever and successful ploy. I believe Karl Rove gets the credit.

My guess is that they simply looked at polls and found out that a large percent of the US constituency was made up of conservative bible-belt types and found out that a quick way to gain votes would be to push being against gay marriage. Maybe I'm being too cynical in here, but I'd honestly be surprised if the current administration really cared that much one way or the other.

i'll't tell the gays what to do. I do exactly not choose the be conscious marriage redefined to bigger healthful their body. they can do as they please with their existence type, and ought to have similar if not even particular favors for being gay couple. Marriage is particular to me. If re-defined it not in simple terms loses meaning notwithstanding it is going to influence establishments like church homes in a really damaging way. Pastors who do not matter on gay marriages ought to ought to finish those marriages, or they lose their pastime, or be dragged into courtroom situations. i'll't enable myself to provide in for the gays, even as so a lot more beneficial human beings receives harm. Then there is the problem of toddlers. yet i'm now unlikely to get into that now. And none the a lot less, in case you redefine marriage, you've to comprise a more beneficial target market then. so that you've legal bestiality which actual occurs in Germany, Austria and some different ecu countries, and that's cruelty to animals. I actual don't have any regard for the gays because they have a hidden time table. they are emotional crack heads which will whine a lot until eventually they get their way. they are those with 'themes' - that's develop into like racism... you're saying something to a classic man or woman, that's a shaggy dog tale. you're saying a similar difficulty to a gay or a black guy, they sue you!! way too a lot drama! -

The Bush junta is not against gay marriage at all. Their ranks are saturated with gays. They simply use the issue to poke and prod their base the religious right-winged fanatics. It is the same scare tactic as with using Muslims and Mexicans. The Mexicans take your job and the Muslims take your life. Fear, fear fear. That is all the Bush junta knows and will be their legacy once we read about them in text books.
With gay marriage the "threat" is that suddenly gays are equal to the other married couples. That of course cannot be since the religious right-winged extremists must be the good and righteous ones. So the fear is: Your marriage is the same marriage as a gay marriage. Subconsciously this means: You are the same as the gays, ergo, you are gay.
Typical fear mongering of the Bush junta.

Well the number of gays that vote Democrat will be heavily outweighed by the number of conservative Democrats who gag but vote Republican because they don't like the direction the liberals have taken their party.
You see darlin' a conservative Democrat is probably a conservative first and Democrat second. They would love to vote for a CONSERVATIVE Democrat. But the closest they have gotten was Clinton. Gore and Kerry pandered too much to 'special' interests. Conservative Democrats are the base of the Democrat party. They have been there from the beginning and they feel ignored. Payback is a *****.

gays are looking for a sanction from the Church. they can have civil unions and now they get benefits and things from their partners work place. true, there are still many things they do not get, but oh well.
i am against gay marriage in that their agenda is to undermine the Church. they are not happy with civil unions and all the rights it incurs. i believe it is the religious aspect of marriage they are after and in so doing, begin to peck away at the very things that americans hold dear, like the institution of marriage and god.
overwhelmingly, they are defeated big time when ever it is put on a ballot. constitutionally, they should be permitted to be married, morally, no, but by denying them marriage, we are creating a type of second class citizens who do not get the full rights they are entitled to by the constitution.

Reducing things further than what is probably the truth:
Republicans tend to to be more conservative, Democrats tend to be more liberal.
Gays have not been allowed to marry before, so republicans tend to be against that. If it matters to you, I think gay marriage will be legal within 10 years. Partly because people will become more understanding and accepting, partly because gays may become a stronger voting bloc, and so both sides will start courting their vote.

There's a decent percent of gays that vote Republican. Obviously, they probably believe in the rights of gays to marry; however, they're also often highly successful people that care about taxes. Also, with foreign policy being one of the most important issues right now, one might have to make their decision based on that.
