I am about to resign myself that opening my pc up to music filing sharing software is simply inviting chaos and virusus into it (and than will ruin my sanity!) Should I just except this fact and stop looking for an answer in a "safe" site, or is there a solution I am not aware of?

Download a Virus Blocker, there are actually some really good free ones live AVG or ZoneAlarm. Also a pop-up blocker might work (depending on how ur downloading you music). Check http://www.download.com for Free Virus Blockers and Pop-Up Blockers.

as long as you have a decent virus protection system on your computer then you'll be safe....if you use limewire it detects music files and asks if you'd like to stop downloading the corrupt files....
