all sorts of things, genius is usually very specialised to one small topic are e.g. maths, music, science etc. They don't just know everything about everything.

Genius is about intellect, NOT about knowledge. A genius could, therefore, be ignorant about anything you care to mention - as most people have in their answers.

It's interesting how many of the answers denigrated the assumed disability of genius to operate in the normal world. It is amazing how much ordinary people know about the disabilities of genius! I have moved in scholastic and similar high operating circles for nearly 40 years and I've never met a genius, so I would be very chary of stating with any degree of accuracy what a genius might be like personally.

I find it difficult to believe that the people replying to these questions are better placed to meet and assess genius - it sounds more like envy & sour grapes to me, mixed with a large dose of knee-jerk wishful thinking.

perhaps complex social situations. I think people have an amazing capacity for different things. Some can specialise in one topic and be considered a genius. Some can cover several, often conflicitng areas such as arts and maths, they are called polymaths. Still others can excel on a social level. Think of those head cheerleaders in high schools who know exactly who to talk to to get someone to notice them, know exactly what's going on with everyone through only 2nd or 3rd party sources and stay on top despite plenty of other smart girls wanting their spot. It's not math but it must be a talent of some sort. Others are artists or singers, they develop their talents but also live around them and know how to use them to their best effect, whilst atheletes must have the willpower to condition themselves everyday, know their flaws and if they're in competing sports know their opponents and have a game plan in advance that can be changed at a moment's notice.

There are many types of genius we just may not call them such in other situations.

A Genius is simply somebody who is capable of learning and solving problems faster than others. According to an IQ test a genius is somebody who outscored most others who took that test. So, if a genius is young, disadvantaged, or lazy they could be illiterate. Anything could be something they don't know.

Annnnd, my work here is done ( bows ) :D

I'm not sure a genius could even explain how we are able to "think". that is how do we seem to see "words, or images" without saying or hearing them?.. i read somewhere once that the human brain is able to figure out how just about everything in the world works, except itself.....

Lots of things - just because they're a genius, doesn't make them knowledgeable.

Definition of an expert is - One who knows more and more about less and less, until they know everything about nothing !

A genius may be able to answer any question, however, they don't always have social skills or a sense of humor.

How to be practical and not get so over-educated they couldn't find a job. Also little common-sense stuff everyone else takes for granted. Also possible poor people skills. Also how to deal with being misunderstood and despised by ordinary people.

A genius would have a great deal of trouble calculating what colour my underpants are.
