Not Dumb At All my friend. Old Blue Eyes would be proud. I myself copped a lot of **** in high school because I was about the only person who knew Led Zep's Physical Grafitti like the back of my hand. Who's to say what's weird or not anyway? I like every single kind of music...even (shhh) *whispers* opera! Yeah that's right, I like opera. I sing it in my spare time...between listening to Sgt. Pepper and Chattanooga Choo Choo...

Peoples' different tastes in music is like someone just not speaking the same language as you. Hard to understand.

I am the same as you. I am 29, an African American and, since I was a little girl, I used to love all the R&B stuff as well as disco and some rock. I love The Smashing Pumpkins, Van Halen (prefably with David Lee Roth) The Cranberries....going back further, I love The Beatles, Cream, The Association, ect.
As for Frank Sinatra, "New York, New York" gets to me everytime.
And, I love some Jazz artistses as well.
I love the fact that people think because I am African American, that they assume I instantly like rap. Not a big rap fan, don't even know half of the ones that came out like T.I. and others. OutKast, yeah, because they actually have a style to their music, but, no rap here.
So, I guess we both have pretty good taste in music and not being stuck in some type of genre that other people would expect.
And, no, this is not a dumb question.

I listen to a lot of genres of music and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You have a vast appreciation for music and because of that why should you limit yourself based on what others think? If they are younger, they are most likely following what it cool or accepted by ur peers and others, so they in actuality are the weird ones because they are most likely preventing themselves from listening to more music not because they wouldnt necessarily like it but bc they care too much about what others think...

No, it's not wierd. Everybody is entitled to listen to any music they choose. And if other people think it's wierd, that's their problem . I still enjoy music that spans the big band era thru classic rock up til the early 80's. Anything newer my interest goes down rapidly.

It is good to vary the types of music that you listen to. You don't want to listen to the same crap they play over and over again. Be different. I love cruising around town, windows down, stereo cranking out Dean Martin's "Ain't That a Kick in the Head".

You have an ear for music, and you're open-minded about it. It's a good thing. You appreciate the different styles. How on earth could you think that's a stupid question? Not at all!

Not at all, it's great, variety is the spice of life. I listen to a large variety of metal, rock, blues, classical, folk... If anyone gives you sh*t for liking many forms of music, give them sh*t right back for being close minded lol. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks anyway.

Don't worry about what other people think. As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters...right? There are a lot of people including myself that love a wide variety of music. Listen on!

You are NOT alone. I get crap all the time. Some people only see straight ahead. I come from NYC and not only is it a melting pot of culture but also of music. I soaked it all up like a sponge.
