In a heartbeat. That would solve a lot of problems and underqualified mothers and fathers. That would be amazing if it could be done.

That would prove to your child that you don't trust them causing mental issues later in life. It would also prove that you are a lazy or bad parent. It would show that not only do you not know how to teach your child important life lessons (like self control and responsibility), but you don't want to. If you were to just sterilize your child at a young age it would show them that it's OK to have sex before they're ready. Many children or teens would gladly have sex (and probably unprotected sex at that) and be very vulnerable to STDs. It may also eliminate a self confidence or self esteem (especially in girls) that tells them that they are more than a sex object. I think that's a very poor idea. I do think that teen pregnancy is a problem and I think a lot of it can be solved with better sex education. I know that I never learned how to put on a condom during sex education classes and that is exactly how many teens get pregnant, they put the condom on incorrectly and it breaks or slips. Also, encouraging your teens to use correct birth control or talking to them about abstinence instead of getting upset with them about the subject will lower the numbers of teen pregnancy. The fact is that when teens are confronted by their parents in an angry fashion, they will feel the need to retaliate and rebel against them. By not threatening them, there will be less off a chance that they will feel this way.

This is an awesome question...
I dont know if its ethical or not... but Im gonna have to say that I wouldnt do it. (this coming from someone who doesnt have kids yet) If I do HALF of the job my parents did raising me, there would be no need for this... I think it instills a subliminal message that you dont trust their decisions or ability to stay abstinant... I have been able to do so for the fullness of my 21 years on earth and although there have been times where I was tempted I want to be a good example for my children.

Absolutely! There is an experimental male birth control drug that will last for about 6 years. If I had a 16 year-old son, I'd put it in his corn flakes without his knowing.

I think perhaps the parent should speak with their child and see "what phase of the game they are in". Trust and communication go a long way. Lastly, if your child is having sex, why not put her on birth control and if you have a boy, have him put a cap on it.
Remember, controlling birth does not diminish disease or morality. Communication and trust is key.

Seems a bit extreme to me. Perhaps a better option would be to raise them with proper moral values, and teach them not to engage in behaviors that will lead to pregnancy. I hear that scientists have recently discovered what causes people to become pregnant.

No, that is unethical. It means as a parent you cannot properly show your kid what self contol is. I know that there are kids that make mistakes but come on has our society been so corrept that we cannot show our kids what is morally right, self control, and all that comes with raising kids.

first I agree with Karrien Sim, you are fine, and yes, it would stop alot of the teenager from having babies out there that the parents then have to raise.
