There's nothing you can do. If it makes you feel better, I bought all new fish when I moved into my new apartment and, a week later when I went out of town and left my roomies to feed them, I came home and they were ALL dead! I was sad but I got over it. Fish don't have a consciousness anyway really.

Go to the pet store and buy ask for a bottle of stress coat. It heals the fish. It may not work but it helped my fish when it would shoot to the top and sink slowly down to the bottom. Read the directions and put like 1 tbsp of it in the tank. Hope this helps

Well unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything that you can do. The fish probably doens't have the intelligence and self-awareness that you have, so it's not suffering like you think. But the best thing for you to do is talk to your dad about the fish and when it is this fish's time, you should bury, have a little ceremony or do whatever you feel should be done to honor its memory.

The fish isn't sad, honey. It doesn't know what's going on. Neither does the other one. You didn't say what sort of fish, but you can get another one and it won't know the difference. Maybe this fish is just old - they don't live very long.
If there is a shop that deals in fish you might call them for advice.

some fish are quite intelligent : convict cichlids.
i wonder what type of fish it is, how long you've had it etc.
search what other types of food it can eat and try to give it something that will sink to the bottom of the tank.
while you're researching your fish, try to find out about its other needs and see if they re being met.
dont euthanize the fish, i've seen many animals recover from what looked like certain death.

well id try just getting food that will sink and put it as close to the fishes moth as you can and if you can put it in its own tank with clean water and as for your dad if he trys to through it out just start baling if u do it right he will leave the fish alone at least until it dies

Tell your dad to let you throw it out. Leave it in the tank until its obviously dead before removing it, though.
P.S. Have you tried the library for information on fish illnesses?

I am sorry that your fish is dying. But it's brain is way to small to figure out what is going on you need to take it out and either flush it down the toilet or bury it your self since your dad wont. That way you can say good by in your own way.
