A lot of scientists today agree in one way or another that the universe began at a singularity, a single point from which the universe exploded (big bang). Carl Sagan put the age of the universe at about 15 billion years. We know that the universe is expanding. By observing other galaxies we have concluded that they are moving away from each other. If the big bang theory is correct, there is a "edge" to the universe. Also that makes the idea of a "big crunch", the opposite of a big bang, more plausable, and that eventually the universe will reach its apex and begin to collapse on itself. Newer theories suggest that the universe exists in an endless cycle of expansion and collapse, which would make it infinite in regards to time.

Everyone would agree to it that Universe was born or say created one day, and anything that is created has boundaries or is limited. It may be very big and that too is quite relative, because we are small or are bound by senses so we can not see the size of the universe. Some day when human being had limited technology it was thought that even world is endless and all planets along with sun revolves aground it, so its a matter of time that we feel as if the universe is endless once human being gets well equipped with technologies he can very well know the limits of UNIVERSE and its being endless would cease to be any issue at all.

The basic principle running the Universe is the law of conservation. That the sum of matter and energy is constant. Therefor the Universe is finite, and ageless. What is, could not have come into being from nothing and therefor must always have been, in some form. .. Finally, the center of the Universe is Jessica Simpson's belly button.
Have a great day! :D

If big bang theory is assumed to be true, the universe cannot be wider than two times the velocity of light multiplied by the time since big bang. Got me? Nothing can travel faster than light - and at the time of big bang whole of the universe was concentrated at a single point.
There is another theory. Do you believe in the fourth dimension of space? The universe can be finite. It may be endless if you travel in three dimensions but curved (and thus, bounded) in the fourth dimension - just as the earth is endless if you travel in two dimensions (latitude and longitude) but is curved, and thus bounded, in the third dimension.

The age of the universe....
Most scientist put the age around 20-30 billion years (but how long was a year before the laws of physics took root?)

yes the universe is endless becoz now and then there are continuous big bang going on in the universe. we know that with a huge blast at a very high temperature made this whole universe. So there ois no end to the universe.

Well, even Einstein wasn't sure if the Universe is endless or not.
One of his best quotes (and I'm paraphrasing here) is:
"Only two things are infinite. The Universe, and Human Stupidity. But I'm not so sure about the former."

the age of the universe is hard to say but for sure universe is endless the balenced centre can be known only if we know the size of the universe the basic priciple is creation and destruction.

there are many theories blah blah about this but one man whose name I cannot remember questioned that if the universe is infinite, why is there black space in between the stars in the night sky? he thought that if the universe was endless, there would be stars everywhere and if an observers line of sight should at any angle from the surface of the earth end at the surface of a star, wouldn't the observer only see white? this is true other than the fact that the stars that are in the black space are SO far away that light from those stars has not even reached earth yet. this being said, the stars that we do see are so far away that the light we see from them is actually thousands even millions of years old, bc of the distance between the star and earth is so vast, the light takes many years to reach us, so yes I believe the universe is ever expanding, but Einstein's theory of relativity involves this and he came up with a formula etc. that the universe is not infinite, so I guess the world may never know

Universe is composed of two elements, matter and empty space. Common sense dictates that matter will be finite (though we don't yet know the factories of production of matter), while empty space will be infinite (infinite void).
As the empty space is infinite, so there are no boundaries of the universe, hence its centre point will be everywhere.
I have no idea about the basic principle.
