Friends of mine have a daughter working in China. They can not get any of their emails to her using her personal email address. If they use mycomputor will there be a problem.

IS THERE SOMEONE THEY CAN TALK TO AT YAHOO ABOUT THIS ISSUE?

Looks like there could be couple of issues:

- The company she works in does not allow her to access public domain email web-sites just like many companies in America. (If she is using the computer at work to access emails). They may also block the emails coming from public domain web sites to the company email address (if that is where you are sending the email).

- If she has her own personal laptop and is not able to access the Yahoo web-site then she should talk to the ISP she is using to access the internet. I don't think this would be the problem but, just a possibility. I know in China MSN and a local email provider is more popular that Yahoo.

Most probably your friends daughter is using the company email address to receive the emails or company computer to check the yahoo email which would be blocked. Obviously, employers don't want people to use company time to chat/send emails while you are working.

Ask your friend about the details and if the above is true then suggest that she use a cyber cafe or buy her personal laptop.

I work in a business where we deal with China on a daily basis. Of course it is too expensive to call them everyday so we keep in contact with them by email. We have several email addresses here and we have no problems sending them emails from any of our email addresses.

If you are willing to send them email from your computer and it works, there certainly isn't any harm in that.

As far as talking to someone at yahoo about this problem, I have never met anyone that has ever been able to talk to anyone at yahoo.

Good luck on that one.

Companies who have broken into China with their trades have agreed to censor things that the Chinese government wants them to in exchange for doing business there.

Google is one of those companies. I don't know about Yahoo.

Keep trying...
