Try a department store counter as opposed to a salon. Some charge, and some don't. If you go to one that doesn't charge, it is very bad manners to not buy at least one product.

try your local beauty school. At the school I went to we only charged $16 for an hour makeup lesson, and just $10 for a 1/2 hr. makeup application.

you can find a mary kay consultant in you area and ask to have your makeup done. no obligation to buy anything but she will probably let you try many different colors
