Swimming is the best exercise during pregnancy. Just check how clean the water looks. Theoretically it's possible to get an infection (like in any other periods before pregnancy when you swam). The baby is protected in its sack and the cases of getting serious infection from water (especially if you don't drink it from the lake) are pretty rare. If you're still in question, make a quick call to your doctor.

i don't see why not, as long as it's not a marathon swim. i went swimming when i was 6 months pregnant and the main problem i had was getting out of the water. all of a sudden i went from weightless to really really heavy and it was kind of a shock.
if a pregnant woman is swimming for exercise, it's good to remember that the body is trying to send as much blood and oxygen as possible to the fetus - so she may cramp earlier than she expects. important to keep safety in mind and swim with company.
bacterial infections are not a big deal, really. just take a shower afterward. there's plenty of bacteria floating around anyway.

yes you can swim in a lake as long as the water is clean. by clean i mean dont swim near drain offs from cities or towns, or near lots of fallen trees and such. they cause there to be higher amounts of bacteria in the water. areas where the water is able to circulate or flow (if a river was damned up for example) are much cleaner than those where it does not.

If you are worried about infections, you needn't be. The baby is as snug as bug in a rug in your womb. Just be careful not to slip and of course no diving, but other than that, it's fine. In fact, water supports you while you swim so it's a very good exercise for pregnant women.
Enjoy!

Yes as long as you have not been leaking fluid (amniotic fluid) where your cervix may be open. This would allow for bacteria found in lake water would travel into the amniotic sac (bag of water) where your baby is, and cause an infection. (bad)
This would be very unlikely.
Most always the cervix is closed, and you would have no problem. But there is an occassional woman that has a dilated cervix without leaking amniotic fluid. (bad)

Of course! People have survived for centuries and that includes swimming in lakes. The baby is not swimming in the lake, it is protected. PLEASE don't listen to the hypochondriacs here. Enjoy being close to nature at this wonderful time.

I would say no because most lakes contain a TON of bacteria and different organisms that can can produce infection once they enter your body (ex: through the cooch) I wouldn't get in a lake pregnant. BUT ALWAYS CALL YOUR DR. FIRST!

I think its safe. They don't want pregnant woman bathing because of the tempature of the water. But swimming should be fine. But check with your doc first.
Good Luck!

i wouldn't, just to be safe.
you don't know who and what is in the lake, so if you don't want an infection, i wouldn't.
it is safe to bathe, but limit your bath time. take mostly showers for a while until you discuss with doc.
congrats on your little blessing!
