A "rent to own" (otherwise known as a "land contract")transaction takes place between you and the owner of the property. In essence, the property owner becomes the lender rather than a bank or mortgage company. With that in mind, you can probably strike a deal with a willing owner and never have to tell them about your husbands record. Chances are good that the property owner will not have access to your credit records.

Review your "land contract" with an attorney before you buy a house using this method. There are many pitfalls.

Good luck with your home purchase.
