I took it for 1 month 100mg (usually they start you on 50, then 100 then 150) got pregnant, but had a miscarriage. Which I'm sure had nothing to do with it. I am taking it again now. My husband wanted me to stop because it was making me get cysts on my ovaries, but the doctor explained that they are not a risk at all. Every month when a woman ovulates they get a cyst. It's due to the egg releasing, but for some reason instead of the break in the tissue healing it fills up with hormones when you are on clomid. The cyst will go away when you get your period. I have done alot of reading and I think that it is pretty safe. If it doesn't work after about 4 months there is no point in continuing taking it. Further fertillity issues might be there. It's the first step in fertility....go for it....and don't worry...she will be fine. only about a 8% chance of twins!!

It's a 5 day dose. either day 3-7 or 5- 9 of her cycle, the 1st day being the 1st day of her period.

Clomid has been around for many many years so it is safe. Some of the most common side effects include, hot flashes, mood swings, headache, and also it can cause the necessasary cervical mucus to become dry or even hostile to sperm. I've had lots of experience with taking Clomid and it is a very inexpensive drug. The typical starting dose of clomid is 1 50mg pill each day for days 3-7 or 5-9 of your menstral cycle...so 5 tablets total per cycle. The dosage can be increased if ovulation does not occur. Does your wife currently ovulate on her own?

Clomid is one of the more popular fertility medications prescribed for certain women who have problems getting pregnant, usually because of ovulation.
It is usually taken for five days during your menstrual cycle, starting at the dose of 50mg.
The multiple pregnancy rate associated with the use of Clomid and its companions is about 10%. Talk to your practitioner to find out what your personal risks are, because these may not all be related to the medication.
I took it and it caused some cysts on my ovaries but that was cleared up with birth control pills. After I took one months worth of b/c pills, I became preganant. Good Luck!

There are several side effects, but from what I understand they are not dangerous, just unpleasant. (moodiness, nausea, headaches.)

It is taken in 5-day courses and generally takes 2-3 courses to become pregnant.

Good luck!
