The question should be more like "Do the French like us"?

Basically I never cared one way or the other, until my daughter was gratuitously humiliated by French employees in Charles DeGaulle airport because she was an American, less than a year ago.

Her experience is only one example of the AntiAmericanism that exists in that country.

Have you ever seen National Lampoon European Vacation? If you have, just watch the scene from the cafe waiter. It may have been satire, but not that far from the truth whatsoever. The movie may be over 20 years old, but the attitudes are a lot more prevalent today than it was then.

I have family in France with whom I'm close and like very much. What I don't like is the stereotypical French. Even though stereotyping is bad, there is some truth behind them. However, in all my times visiting France, I am yet to encounter very many of those generalized French, therefore I must say that I do like the French, at least those I've met. Perhaps it is your government I do not like, maybe its like how people view the Americans. Most people don't like the way our government works, which I cannot particularly blame them for, but when they actually meet Americans have very few problems with us as individuals.

The French are obsessed with wondering if people like them!
I live in France and have done for 3 years. Like everyone, French are a mixture of good and bad but the culture is so specific and so different that it is very hard for people outside of France to understand. My personal feeling is that they are slaves to tradition and culture, oppressed and not free inside their heads. Sorry!

Yes, most Americans like the French. It is the neoconservative Nazis that run our country at the moment who have the issues...

I'm glad to see that many of the answers, so far, are "Yes" (or kinda)
For being french, i would answer that french people tend to be more and more lazy, by being assisted by a state that "makes" people being paid for nothing. Luckily when french people work, they work hard and fast, which makes a balance.

In general I think the French are lazy and forget who helped them out during WW2 and they forgot to pay us back for that! And then have the gaul to say the U.S. is fat and lazy!

well some things French I like and some I don't, but you could say that about any culture

for example, I love French wines, but disdain socialist farmers that throw rocks en masse when they don't get a subsidy
