Check out an Astros game. Friday after the game they have fireworks, it's pretty fun, the Lastros stink this season, but it's fun and tickets are easy to get. NASA is a drive, but worth it if you're into space. Town Center is in Sugar Land, and the Woodlands has pretty much the same thing. Or, the Galleria if you want to completely dodge the heat. San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas are interesting if you like History, but it's a drive out there on the far east side of Houston, and if you are here during the summer, the heat will be brutal. If you like the weird and macabre, check out the Orange Show, Beer Can House, Art Car Museum and the Funeral Museum. For more offbeat stuff, try the Farmer's Market off Airline, Saturday in the Heights. There are a lot of good suggestions up there, so I wanted to offer a little more of the off the beaten path kind of stuff.

You can see a lot of museums there. Also there is Herman Park, Katy Mills Mall They have a Rainforest Cafe), Galleria (mall), San Jacinto Monument, Battleship Texas (both history sights), Down Town is OK, Minute Maid Park
Go to a Barnes&Noble to get a tourist guide for Houston. They have a lot of information of what you can do. If you like Mexican food try Tortuga. If you want to go swimming in the sea go and visit Galveston. It's an 2 or 2 1/2 hours drive and if you go there visit the Strand.

Go to a rodeo. Obviously, it's part of the local "culture" there & you guys will probably see some hot young cowboys! Yee-haw! Also, maybe go to a local football game. They are SERIOUS about their high school & college football down there! If you go to a football game, ask someone about the big corsages that they make there for the girls (like for homecoming or graduation or any special occasion), they're made out of ribbons & bows that match your school colors. That would make a really neat souveneir. I'm originally from Houston but it's been a long time, so I'm all out of suggestions. Have fun!

You have the beach in Galveston and it is about 30 minutes away on the interstate. there is the Katy Mills Outlet Mall. There are lots of other things to do as well. Contact the visitors and convention bureau for information.

that's a funny question, theres not much to do in Houston, trust me...consider San Antonio, much prettier and more things to do there if you must head for the 'dirty' (or boring) south (I' from Dallas, not much to do here either, we got the best Six Flags though....).....ummm kennedy was shot here in dallas mommy....
