I had a job like that... it was a land surveying company so in the winter, there wasn't much work to be done. I spent a lot of time on the internet, and the funny part it is... my computer faced the door. Everytime my boss would come in I'd minimize the window. Eventually he called me his "little surfer girl" LOL But yeah... time passed soooooo slooooow. Especially Fridays. I feel for you!!!

I had a job like that once. I copied large chunks of Anna Karenina on the office copier and mixed those pages in with the papers I was working on at my job. I read a lot that summer.

Yeah, I worked at the Dog Track a few months ago. All we did was count the thousands of dollars that the customers gambled away, eat, sleep and watch television. We had 3 TV's in the one room we were in and all had cable so everyone could watch what they wanted. Boy were the other employees jealous of us...

Yeah, was supposedly a software engineer position but I waited
for the UN beauracracy to decide what to do before I gave up
and quit. Too bad too, that job had 6 wks vacation/yr.

The workload of the position I hold right now is completely dependant on network failure. Some days I can't keep up and other days I don't do a single thing all day.

yes... for the year i was doing the job, only 20% of my time was utilised. when i tried to do something, invariably someone would say it was their remit... it was a bugger of a job! i ended up using the time to research a change in life and career as well as play at mock futures trading.
now i live in france and glad to be out of the rat race! :)
