OK, first ,its MARDI GRAS and although it has many problems it isn't all the governments fault.Mostly it is,but alot of the city's problems are from the very people who live there and just don't care about anything except what I can get for free and where do I go to get it?These are the same "project people" that never owned anything and now have defrauded their way into checks for thousands of dollars for just being in the right line at the right time. These people are given houses that they don't have to pay rent on,free utilities and get a gazillion $$ of food stamps, free medical cards for all their childrenand themselves, free bus tokens to ride any bus any time.and almost all of them get SSI checks for themselves and all their children. Its pitiful but we ,the ones that work everyday trying to make ends meet, can't afford insurance and Fema forgot us .We lost houses that we actually paid rent on and all our possessions and fema gave us NOTHING.Yoy try to live w/ only 3 sets of clothes and no place but a floor to lay down on.I know of people that used false info and addresses and got $17,000 from FEMA and it happened more than once.New Orleans was better when all the gangs(project people) were sent to Texas, but now they are not welcome in Texas so they are coming back.Murder rate has went up 300 0/0 since Katrina in a little city called Harvey.FYI it is on Westbank of New Orleans(about 5 miles away from the french quarter)If we coulld put criminals in jail AND KEEP them there maybe N.O. would be ok.And if we can get those freeloading people off the governments payroll and make them work for a change maybe we can make N>O> a better place than it was. What will it look like on the laqst day of Bush's admin. The same as all the other things he hasn't done.UNFINISHED/ W/ NO RESOLVE....

It will look exactly the way it does today. Like Katrina happened yesterday. Bush has no interest in New Orleans. People are still displaced all over the country. Some have said they won't be going back. The majority of the residence who have returned are living in mobile homes. Some of which don't have electricity or running water. The schools are hardly open and can barely get funding for them because they don't have enough children to teach. It truly is a nightmare there. Some people going home to find dead bodies still buried under the downfall of there homes. Yet FEMA wrote they checked the house and found no bodies. Hello if the doors are locked and you can't get in how do you know if there are dead bodies there. How is it that we sent money to other counties to help them after disasters and we can't ever rebuild are out natural catastrophes. Bush sucks.

the look probably won't change much unless the mayor does something about. New Orleans is only as good as the people who live in it. and this city had major problems before Bush. a lot of people from there obviously aren't very productive that's why they depend on the govt for so much and think that help is owed to them. those people have access to public education & therefore have the same chance as anyone else. everything isn't Bush's fault.

Having shed its welfare burden for the most part black and white, New Orleans will become a shining example of what a city with huge infrastructure in petro chemicals and import/export can become once they can avoid supporting the unskilled high school dropouts and avoid the "crime" tax they used to carry. And yes Hurricane Katrina did not solve these problems, merely shifted them to places like Houston and St. Louis. Oh yeah and New Orleans will be very heavily republican and avoid getting trapped back where it was. Worlds largest outdoor toilet/tavern in the middle of some of the worst living conditions in the US.

Bush has nothing to do with the way New Orleans looks. The people of New Orleans decide that. You can't improve a city when the residents refuse to help.If you don't mow your lawn the grass gets tall.If the residents don't get off their lazy asses and do something the city continues to look like crap.

Your questions are an indicator of your young age.
The Bush administration has appropriated over 1 billion for the Katrina clean up, so far over 700 million has been accessed. Couple that with what is actually the responsibility of insurance companies, and the millions in charitable contributions donated by individuals and US corporation and you will realize that the problem isn't lack of cash, the problem is a local one, definitely not the fault of the federal government, or more specifically, the President.

Well, the French Quarter always looks beautiful and it was built when people had the sense to look for dry land before erecting a building.

that really depends on new Orleans...the corrupt government there will continue as it has for 60 years....all the money in the world could be dumped in new Orleans and the corrupt local gov. will continue to squander it on additions to casinos...additions to court houses...and fountains in the town square...it all depends on new Orleans.
