Depends on how much money and how good a friend it is. I have some really good friends that have borrowed a few bucks here or there and always paid me back. I too have borrowed money. There are some fringe type friends that I wouldn't lend money to as I know they don't have means to pay me back. Just use your best judgement.

No never lend money to friends. I say if you have the money then give it to them. Hear me out.....if it is a true friend that you trust then he/she will give it back at some point. If not, well then it wasn't a loan b/c you gave it to them. You will not be worried about the repayment and your friend will not either so it wont interfere with your friendships.

I've always heard if you want to get rid of a friend, lend him some money. Because they generally do not pay you back. I would loan my friend money, if it wasn't a lot.......with the pretention that I wouldn't get paid back. That way, if the friend doesn't pay it back, it's no big deal and I keep my friendship too.

I was going to say exactly what erk m said. If you can afford to lose the money, just treat it as a gift, and if the friend pays you back, bonus! If you can't afford it or don't want to for some other reason, it's a bad idea.

If it's up to $50.00, then I wouldn't hesitate, anything else I would have second thoughts about. Very rarely does it work out. If you are "loaning" your friend the money, don't expect to get it back. Most people promise to pay their friends back, then don't.

That is the thing is it not..... if you do not trust them to pay you back then no you should not or if you want to give them the money give it without thinking you will ever get it back....

assume you won't get it back. if it doesn't change your attitude or you can forget about it or a nominal amount, then go ahead and give the money. notice i said give instead of loan, because that's usually what end up happening. otherwise say you are strapped too.
