Listen to some of the music.

Many take the misuse of grammar in a literal way and considerate it correct.

These are all due to 'freedom' one takes with the language.

In the use of the Comparatives, generally, all the simple adjectives & adverbs take, -'er'. / 'r'

eg: fast- faster, long - longer,
easy, easier, large - larger, far - farther, few- fewer

2. Some adj / adv s get changed as in

little-less, much - more, many - more, well- better, good - better

3. More syllabled ( more than one, LONGER Adjectives) words take, more in comparative forms & 'most' in the superlative.

Eg: Honest, - More Honest; handsome - more handsome, beautiful - more learned, difficut - more difficult.

Because of the growth of English language, people feel free to use a different form ( not necessarily grammatically correct) to emphasize the shade of meaning they want to give to their expressions. It is generally tolerated & sometimes appreciated by most of the people except of course, the English Teachers & the Purists, Grammarians!

I feel there is no harm done to the language by such expressions. After all, the language is man-made & not God-prescribed.

We come across quite a number of expressions such as

1.It is getting CURIOUSER & CURIOUSER! (Jovial.) instead of 'more & more curious'

2. This problem seems to be far more complex than I expected.

3.We had to choose LESSER of the two evils.

Some use two or more adjectives.

I'm very, very tired.

I'd like to know more & more about it!

Anyhow, poets have licence of expression. Sonngwriters take the same liberty with the language. By getting used to the usage, almost all don't mind some variations in the usages!

It is MORE out of PREFERENCE than of IGNORANCE as some have mistakenly taken it to be!

Why should we grudge if we are publishing something or using them in formal situations or while writing the exams.?

People do use comparatives but they should be used correctly. For example you cannot say 'more fast' as it is grammatically incorrect.' Faster' is correct. Some words do not sound correct with the addition of 'er' such as stupid. Stupider doesn't exist, although you may hear it used, 'more stupid' is correct. However there are words where either can be used depending on context. For example you could say 'I'm happier now that I was yesterday.' or 'I feel more happy now.' Generally if the addition of 'er' doesn't sound right then it's probably wrong.

Thank you Edward! I'm not the only one who thinks so.

By and large, people are just stupid. They don't pay attention to established rules. Unfortunately, language is one of those "evolving" things, so it's not like we can exactly mandate correct grammatical use and such...the infamous "they" tried that with Latin, and it died. So we who are nitpicky and perfectionistic are pretty much screwed.

Because everyone uses the superlative. People don't realize that you can't have the Best when you only have two things.

It's the influence of Bush-speak. Here are some examples:
nuclear is now nucular
unifier is now unificator
strategy is now strategery
decision maker is now decider
perpetrator is now perpetuator
